Both divorcing parties and divorce professionals are often surprised to know how different family law mediation is all around the world. To study, discuss and navigate these differences, the Amicable Divorce Network formed its International Mediator Exchange Program. Family law mediators from all other the world gather once a month online to discuss the many variances in mediation including whether lawyers are present, how many sessions are typical, is mediation voluntary, are parties in the same or different rooms and more. In addition, the Amicable Divorce Network developed an online survey to send to mediators to collect information about these variances. If you are a family law mediator and would like to take the survey, it can be found here:

In April of 2025, members of the Amicable Divorce Network presented to the American Bar Association the findings of the survey as well as differences in family law mediation. The presentation was called “Family Law Mediation: Methods, Rules and Norms from Around the Globe” and was presented live at the ABA Conference in Chicago, Illinois by Tracy Ann Moore-Grant, Amicable Divorce Network founder and Georgia mediator, arbitrator and lawyer, Kathy Bloom, Amicable Divorce Network ADR Chair and Pennsylvania mediator, lawyer and arbitrator and Katy Harris, Accredited Civil and Family Law Mediation from England.

This joint presentation highlights Amicable Divorce Network’s focus on helping parties and mediators more effectively resolve matters outside the court system.
