Meet Georgia Divorce Mediator Dyann Beaty

Navigating conflict with clarity and fairness is at the heart of Dyann Beaty’s approach. As the founder of DWB Mediations in North Georgia, she helps families move from conflict-driven positions to practical solutions, guiding them toward agreements they can feel confident about. With decades of experience as a prosecutor, magistrate judge, and certified mediator, Dyann specializes in family law mediation, supporting clients in making decisions that are thoughtful, collaborative, and sustainable for their future.

With over 30 years of legal experience, Dyann brings a unique perspective to her mediation practice. She began her career as a certified mediator in Florida in 1993, followed by roles as a prosecutor and in the Attorney General’s office. After moving to Georgia, Dyann served as a magistrate judge from 2012 until her semi-retirement last year, all while maintaining her commitment to family and civil law. She then became recertified as a mediator and established DWB Mediations, where she now focuses primarily on family law mediation, while also handling probate and general civil cases.

Family Law Mediation in North Georgia

Dyann’s approach to mediation is grounded in self-determination, fairness, and practicality. She works with clients who may initially be entrenched in conflict, helping them step back and see the bigger picture. Whether addressing issues around child custody, property division, or probate, she emphasizes finding solutions that everyone can accept and maintaining open communication between parties.

“People are happier when they can make their own decisions rather than having choices imposed by a court. My goal is to help parties find common ground and explore solutions they may not have realized were possible.”

-Dyann Beaty, DWB Mediations

Dyann works with clients who come to mediation either by choice or as part of a legal process. She notes that the most successful cases are those in which parties can still communicate and recognize some shared interests. Her ability to guide clients from entrenched positions to practical resolutions is informed by her years on the bench, her experience as a prosecutor, and her work with organizations like CASA.

Divorce Mediation Philosophy and Approach

Dyann’s mediation philosophy is grounded in clarity, respect, and forward-focused problem-solving. She approaches each case with the belief that, even in high-conflict situations, thoughtful guidance and structured dialogue can help families reach durable solutions outside of the courtroom.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see clients move from a place of anger and animosity to a point where all doors are open, and options they hadn’t considered before are now possible. Mediation can truly change the dynamic and improve communication, which benefits not just the parties involved but their children and families as well.”

Dyann also provides parent coordination and facilitation for post-divorce disputes. In these situations, she collaborates with parents and their attorneys to resolve ongoing conflicts efficiently, creating practical, enforceable agreements that prioritize the child’s best interests while reducing the need for further court involvement.

Why Dyann Joined the Amicable Divorce Network

Dyann values the Amicable Divorce Network’s focus on fostering amicable resolutions, connecting with attorneys and professionals who share her philosophy, and providing families with alternatives to adversarial court processes.

“ADN aligns perfectly with my values as a mediator. Facilitating collaborative resolutions is so important, especially for families with children. The network helps me connect with like-minded professionals and share a commitment to making divorce a process that’s more constructive than destructive.”

By joining ADN, Dyann hopes to expand her reach, connect with other professionals who prioritize collaboration over conflict, and continue supporting families in creating resolutions they can be proud of. “When parties walk out of mediation feeling they’ve created solutions they own and can carry forward, it’s the most rewarding part of my work.”
